Big antitrust crisis upcoming for Google

    • Google has already lost two similar lawsuits over the past year.

    • In August, The DoJ branded Google as a monopolist that paid billions to Apple, among others, to guarantee its place as the dominant search engine.

    • In December, SF jury ruled that Google illegally shut out competitors from its Android Play Store.

    • Dominated sector for 16 years.

      • It’s not illegal to dominate a sector. What is illegal though, is to use your position to actively prevent other people from competing, which is what Google is accused of doing.

    • Google has bought potential competitors and used their power to destroy every nascent competitor in this space.

    • Manipulated ad auctions for its benefit.

      • “Google has positioned itself to act as buyer, seller, and auctioneer all at once”

      • “Basically if Goldman or Citi owned the NYSE”

    • A third loss has a potential to complete reshape and break up their $2T company.

    • A $100B+ class action lawsuit is likely to follow should this ruling go against Google.

      • Advertisers can claim Google illegally overcharged them and demand money back.

    • Election will not save them: it’s likely that both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump would continue to go after Google if elected.
